WSC women ninth in latest regional rankings
Wayne State moved up one spot to ninth in the latest NCAA Div. II Central Region women’s basketball rankings.
The Wildcats are 22-6 overall and 20-6 against NCAA Div. II teams overall and in-region.
Southwestern Oklahoma State from the Great American Conference maintains the top spot in the rankings followed by Central Missouri from the MIAA in second. Northern State, MSU Moorhead and Augustana, all from the Northern Sun Conference, fill out the top five teams.
Three MIAA teams -- Pittsburg State, Central Oklahoma and Nebraska-Kearney -- are ranked sixth through eighth, with Wayne State ninth and Arkansas Tech 10th.
The Central Region is comprised of teams from the Great American Conference, Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
The top eight teams from the region advance to the NCAA Central Region Tournament March 9, 10 and 12. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the three conference tournaments with the remaining five spots awarded to teams on an at-large basis.
