Wildcats stay in AVCA poll at No. 22
The Wayne State College volleyball team slipped two spots to 22nd in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association Div. II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, continuing their streak of 112 consecutive national rankings in the AVCA poll dating back to Sept. 28, 2009.
Wayne State dropped a pair of NSIC home games last weekend, falling to Upper Iowa 3-2 and then-No. 17 Winona State 3-1. Upper Iowa moved into the top 25 this week at No. 25 after the win over the Wildcats, giving the Northern Sun Conference eight spots in this week’s poll. Also ranked are No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul, No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State, No. 7 Northern State, No. 9 Minnesota Duluth, No. 15 Winona State and No. 16 Augustana.
The Wildcats play three games on the road this week, starting with a Tuesday night contest at Augustana. Wayne State also visits Bemidji State Friday at 6 p.m. and Minnesota Crookston Saturday at 2 p.m.
