Wildcats move up to No. 20 in AVCA poll
The Wayne State College volleyball team moved up one spot to No. 20 in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association Div. II Top 25 coaches poll, marking the 110th consecutive national ranking for the WSC volleyball program dating back to Sept. 28, 2009.
Wayne State is one of seven Northern Sun Conference schools in this week’s top 25, along with No. 2 Southwest Minnesota State, No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul, No. 5 Minnesota Duluth, No. 11 Northern State, No. 15 Winona State and No. 16 Augustana. Other schools from the Central Region in the top 25 include No. 7 Nebraska-Kearney, No. 10 Central Oklahoma and No. 18 Central Missouri from the MIAA, along with No. 14 Arkansas Tech from the Great American Conference.
Wayne State split a pair of NSIC home matches over the weekend, falling 3-2 to then-No. 9 Northern State while rebounding with a 3-0 sweep over MSU Moorhead. The Wildcats play three road matches this week, starting with Tuesday’s non-conference match at Chadron State. They visit No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul Friday at 6 p.m. and Minnesota State Saturday at 2 p.m.
