Scoreboard lights up in Wildcats' 25-13 win
Wayne State's baseball team cranked out seven home runs as part of a 22-hit attack to win the third game of a four-game series with Minot State on Sunday, posting a 25-13 win over the Beavers at Minot, N.D.
An eight-run fourth inning helped stake the Wildcats to a 12-0 advantage, and the Beavers never got clsoer than seven runs after that.
Thirteen of the Wildcats' 22 hits went for extra bases, including seven home runs. Curtis Bussard, Cody Jenkins, Bodie Cooper, Nate Ackerman, Nick McIntee and Aaron Krier all hit round-trippers in the Wildcat blowout.
Bussard had the big day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a homer and three doubles. he also scored five times and drove in three more. Tanner Simons was 3-for-6 with three RBI's and three runs scored, while Jenkins went 3-for-5 and had three RBI's.
Matthew Wood struck out eight in four innings to get the win. Dalton Smith and Joe Greco pitched well in relief.
The final game of the series was called off due to the weather, leaving Wayne State with the 3-0 series sweep to improve to 7-18 overall and 4-5 in NSIC action.
The Wildcats will be home Wednesday, hosting Winona State in a 1:30 p.m. matchup at the Chapman Complex.
