Loos finalist for Div. II Player of the Year

Wayne State senior softball standout Lexie Loos has been listed as a finalist for the 2016 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year.
Loos leads the NSIC in batting average (.485), on-base percentage (.522), runs scored (52) and hits (82) while ranking seventh in the league in total bases (95) and 10th in stolen bases (17) heading into the final weekend of the regular season. She is tied for third in NCAA Div. II in batting average and ranks 11th nationally in runs scored per game at 1.16.
Loos has reached base safely in all 45 games for the Wildcats this season and has 26 multi-hit games. She currently has a 15-game hitting streak, her second of the season. Loos was named the NSIC Player of the Week on April 11 after going 17 for 24 (.708) in six games against Southwest Minnesota State, Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston.
Last season, Loos set numerous single-season school records, including batting average (.467), hits (93), runs scored (53) and total bases (118) while earning first-team All-NSIC and All-Central Region and third-team Daktronics/D2CCA All-American honors.
Loos is one of 25 finalists for the award and is the lone player from the Northern Sun Conference to be selected finalist for the award. Ten finalists will be announced on Friday, May 6 and the final three revealed Thursday, May 12, with the winner being announced on Tuesday, May 17.
