Kramper betters school mark in 200 at SDSU
Wayne State junior Clay Kramper broke his own school record in the 200 meter dash for a second straight week to highlight Wayne State’s efforts in the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brooking, S.D.
Kramper recorded a strong eighth-place finish out of 159 runners in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.94 seconds to top his own school record he set last weekend at the Sevigne Husker Invite in Lincoln at 22.07 seconds. He also recorded a solid 20th place finish in the 60-meter dash in 7.08 seconds.
Brady Metz had two strong showings in the jumps, taking sixth in the triple jump at 46-6 3/4 and 12th in the long jump at 22-1.
Habib Jallow was 11th in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.53 seconds while Nathan Pearson was 22nd in the 600-meter dash in a time of 1:24.45. The 1,600-meter relay team of Kramper, Jallow, Preston Davis and Kyle Lowe took 19th in a time of 3:25.53.
In women’s action, freshman Hanna Lazure and senior Mary Alderson recorded the top finishes for the Wayne State women.
Lazure earned a tie for 13th place in the high jump clearing 5-0 1/2for the top Wildcat finish. Alderson posted a 15th-place finish in the 600-meter dash in a time of 1:39.36 and ran under one minute in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.99 seconds. Joan Jelimo came in 25th place in the 600-meter dash at 1:41.48.
The 1,600- meter relay quartet of Alderson, Sophie Noecker, Allysa Kimpson and Jelimo finished 16th place with a time of 4:06.24.
The Wildcats will compete at a pair of meets next Friday – the Husker Tuneup Invite in Lincoln and the SDSU Tuneup Invite in Brookings.
