Grisham named NSIC Goalkeeper of the Week

Wayne State sophomore Rachel Grisham was announced as the Northern Sun Conference Goalkeeper of the Week following her play in a Wildcat win and tie to conclude the regular season over the weekend.

Grisham, a 5-foot-4 goalkeeper from Columbus, was 1-0-1 with a 0.00 goals against average in a 1-0 win over Southwest Minnesota State Friday and a 0-0 double overtime tie at Sioux Falls Sunday with a 1.000 save percentage. She was credited with two saves Friday against SMSU and accounted for eight saves in Sunday’s tie at USF while playing all 200 minutes over the weekend. Grisham was the lone goalkeeper in the NSIC to post back-to-back shutouts over the weekend.

For the season, Grisham is 4-8-6 with a 1.71 goals against average and four shutouts. She ranked eighth in the NSIC with 4.83 saves per game and tied for ninth in the league with four shutouts this season.

It’s the first time that Grisham has collected NSIC Player of the Week honors.
