District softball now single-elimination, Wayne plays Monday
Because of the recent heavy rains, the Nebraska School Activities Association has decided to make the B-4 district softball tournament a single-elimination tournament and will play first-round game Saturday at Bradshaw Park in Columbus, with the semifinals and finals set for Monday back at Wisner City Park.
The Saturday games will include Wisner-Pilger playing Columbus Lakeview and David City/East Butler playing Schuyler at 12 p.m., with the O'Neill vs. South Sioux City game set for 1:30 p.m.
Wayne will face the winner of the Wisner-Pilger/Columbus Lakeview game on Monday at 10 a.m., with the other semifinal going on at the same time. Winners will meet in a winner-take-all game at 11:30 a.m., with the winner advancing to the state tournament that starts Wednesday in Hastings at the Smith Softball Complex.
