Blue Devils polish off Bluejays in straight-set win
Wayne High had no problems with Guardian Angels Central Catholic at home Tuesday, finishing off the Bluejays in straight sets, 25-23, 25-14, 25-21.
The Blue Devils had a balanced net attack and took control of the match after a tightly-contested opening set. Wayne led by as many as 12 points in the second set and led by as many as six in the final set before GACC was able to get as close as two points before Wayne finished them off.
Lauren Pick led four Blue Devils in double figures in kills with 14. Ashton Boyer added 13 and Emily Armstrong and Katelyn Grone each had 10. Kiara Krusemark had 21 assists and Allyson Avery added 16.
Defensively, Hailey Backer led the way with 15 digs. Boyer, Armstrong and Pick each had 11 digs and Frankie Klausen picked up 10.
Wayne, 8-2, plays in the Seward Invitational on Saturday.
