Ballinger named second-team All-Central Region
Wayne State senior basketball standout Paige Ballinger was named to the 2017-18 D2CCA All-Central Region Women’s Basketball second team as voted on by sports information directors from the NCAA Division II Central Region.
The 6-foot-1 senior center from Pender was a first-team All-NSIC selection for a third straight season this year. She led the Wildcats in scoring at 12.2 points per game to go with 5.9 rebounds a contest this season, ranking second in the NSIC with 2.4 blocks per game while ranking 10th in field goal percentage (.487) and 12th in free throw percentage (.810).
In NSIC games, Ballinger averaged 12.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game recording four games of 20 or more points with three double-doubles. She was second in blocked shots per game (2.2), ninth in field goal percentage (.486), 10th in free throw percentage (.825) and 16th in scoring.
Ballinger ended her Wildcat career ranked eighth in career scoring with 1,448 points and is the all-time blocked shot leader with 217.
Wayne State College finished the season with a 25-7 overall record and placed second in the NSIC South Division with an 18-4 league mark.
