AREA VOLLEYBALL — Wayne, Allen survive
Wayne and Allen were survivors of subdistrict volleyball play involving area teams Monday evening.
Wayne, the top seed in the C1-7 subdistrict at Norfolk High School, had no problems with Madison, winning 25-13, 25-14, 25-6 to move on to Tuesday’s 6:30 p.m. subdistrict final against Pierce, who defeated Norfolk Catholic in the other semifinal matchup.
Allen was a straight-set winner over Wausa in the D2-4 subdistrict at Hartington Cedar Catholic’s Werner Activity Center, winning 25-21, 25-22, 25-17. They will move on to Tuesday’s 7 p.m. final against Wynot, who handled Bloomfield in straight sets.
Wakefield was upset by Oakland-Craig in the C2-2 subdistrict at Pender High School. The top-seeded Trojans saw their season come to an end with a four-set loss, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-10. Oakland-Craig will play B-R/L-D in Tuesday’s subdistrict final.
In C2-3 action at Wayne High School, Crofton eliminated Laurel-Concord-Coleridge in straight sets, 25-16, 25-23, 25-13 before falling to top-seeded Hartington Cedar Catholic. Hartington CC will face Ponca in the subdistrict final on Tuesday.
In D2-3 subdistrict play at Wisner-Pilger, Winside was defeated in straight sets by Scribner-Snyder, 25-17, 25-21, 25-19 to see their season come to an end. Scribner-Snyder will face Humphrey St. Francis in Tuesday’s subdistrict final.
