Sheryl A. Anderson

    Sheryl A. Anderson, 60, of Lisbon, Iowa, formally of Wayne, died Saturday, June 25, 2016.
    A celebration of life will be conducted on Saturday, July 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne with a luncheon to follow. A private family burial will be conducted at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
    Memorials may be directed to Sheryl’s family for later designation.
    Sheryl A. Anderson was born Oct. 18, 1955 to Art and Claribel (Crain) Anderson of Laurel. Sheryl grew up with her brothers, Steve and Jeff, attending Laurel Community Schools. Sheryl attended Bahner College of Hairstyling in Fremont.  After completing her education, Sheryl began 40 years of caring for people through haircuts and styles.  Sheryl owned The Headquarters in Wayne, for 37 years, and was appreciative of and loved each client she encountered. In 1984, Sheryl married Matthew Polhamus, and from this union the three most important people in her life were born - Joel David, Marrissa Ann Marie; who passed at birth, and Justin James. After her divorce, Sheryl found the love of her life, Mike Smith, who tragically succumbed to cancer prior to their marriage.  Sheryl was very close to all of her children’s friends and was affectionately known as “Momma.”  After retirement, Sheryl moved to Lisbon, Iowa to be closer to her sons and grandchildren. Sheryl loved spending time with family and friends and will always be remembered for her infectious laugh, ear to ear grin, amazing musical talents, love for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and her cooking abilities.
    Survivors include her sons Joel D. (Heather) Polhamus, of Lisbon, Iowa, Justin J. Polhamus of Mechanicsville, Iowa, and grandchildren Kyla, Aiden, and Payton; brothers, Steven (Elizabeth) of Algona, Iowa and Jeffrey (Dianne) of Nixa, Mo., as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
    Sheryl also is survived by her newest four legged child, “Mr. Chubbles.”
    She was preceded into death by her infant daughter, Marrissa Ann Marie, the love of her life, Mike Smith, her parents, several aunts and uncles, and her beloved four legged child, “Erin Annie”.
    Arrangements were made through Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
