Sharon Grimm, 73, of Wayne, died Friday, April 8, 2016 at Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel.
Services were held Wednesday, April 13 at First United Methodist in Wayne. Chaplain Rosalind Woods officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church and the Wayne Senior Center.
Sharon Kay Grimm was born Nov. 4, 1942 to Everett and Hazel (Reigle) Huddleston at Laurel. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Laurel. Sharon graduated from Laurel-Concord High School in 1961 and attended Grace Bible Institute in Omaha for one year. Over the years, she worked as a nurse’s aide in area hospitals and nursing homes in Wakefield, Norfolk, and Yankton. Sharon married John Grashorn on Febr. 14, 1971. He passed away Aug. 4, 1989. Sharon moved to Wayne to work at Providence Medical Center and later worked in the Wayne State College cafeteria and drove the minibus for the Wayne Senior Center. Sharon married Gerald Grimm on Sept. 10, 1994 in Wayne. The couple lived in Wayne and Sharon worked as a custodian at Wayne High School, retiring in 2004. She was a member of Wayne V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Wayne Senior Center. She enjoyed visiting, selling Gold Canyon Candles, spending time at their river home, and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald; step-son, Peter (DeLisa) Grimm of Deadwood, S.D.; step-daughter, Paula (Randy) Brown of Linn Grove, Iowa; foster daughters, Lori (Kirt) Smith of Belden and Lynell Thies of Wayne; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Paul (Joan) Huddleston of Laurel; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John Grashorn in 1989; a brother, Harry Huddleston; a step-son, John Dale Grimm and his wife, Tina (Field) Grimm; in-laws, Dale and Mildred Grimm; and nephew, Paul William Huddleston.
Pallbearers were Alvin Gehner, Ron Billheimer, Laverle Hochstein, Ronnie Doring, Alan Hammer and Larry Nichols.
Honorary pallbearers were Emily Brown, Magdalene Alton, Zachary Brown, Elijah Brown, Anthony Grimm, A.J. Ahlman, Victor Carpenter and Brandon Carpenter.
Arrangements were with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
