Raymond 'Ray' Reeg
Raymond 'Ray' Reeg, 92, of Wayne, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 at a Sioux City, Iowa hospital.
Services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. The Rev. Michael Feldmann and the Rev. Carl Lilienkamp will officiate. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne.
Burial with military rites will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed in care of Hasemann Funeral Home, 302 North Lincoln Street, Wayne Neb. 68787 for family designation to Grace Lutheran Church and Providence Medical Center Foundation.

Raymond Jakob Reeg was born Nov. 13, 1923 in Wayne County to Fred and Mathilda (Grone) Reeg.He was baptized and confirmed at the Theophilus Evangelical Church near Winside. He was active in 4-H sheep club and showed a grand champion sheep at the State Fair. Soon after, his badly infected thumb was amputated and after a long recovery time, he was released on his birthday. After that, he always said 13 was his lucky number. He attended District #77 and graduated Wayne High School. He farmed with his dad until serving his country during World War II in Japan as an Army Paratrooper. He married Verdelle Niemann at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winside on Easter Sunday 1947. They farmed northwest of Wayne for 42 years, while Ray raised corn and beans, hogs, and cattle with his white-faced Herefords favored. He was a member of St. Paul Church Council and a 70-year continued member of the Wayne VFW. He and Verdelle enjoyed several card clubs and were members of Grace Lutheran Duo Club. During his retirement years, he was employed by Arnies' Ford Mercury and Schumacher, Schumacher-Hasemann, and Hasemann funeral homes. He took pride in his funeral home "work clothes" after first spending 60 years in farm work clothes.
Survivors include his wife, Verdelle; daughter, Jana Reeg (Mark) Steidinger of Menomonie Wisc.; brother-in-law, Leon (Ann) Niemann of Lakewood Colo.; nephew, Paul Niemann of Lakewood Colo.; nephew, Jeff (Perrin) Niemann of Fort Collins, Colo. and their daughter, Ava Grace.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald; and father- and mother-in-law, Florenz and Paula Niemann. Ray was a kind, gentle fellow with a smile and care for others.
Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Hasemann, Jeff Niemann, Al Wittig, Roger Niemann and Fritz Temme.
Active pallbearers will be Roger Willers, Mike Dunklau, Ron Sebade, Joey Niemann, Dean Janke, Dan Hansen and Paul Niemann.
