Phillip Lubke

    Phillip Lubke, 90, Norfolk, formerly of Foster, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
    Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Foster. Burial will be in Prospect View Cemetery in Pierce. Visitation will be from 4-7  p.m. at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

    Phillip Lubke was born Sept. 14, 1927 in Pierce County, the son of Frank and Augusta (Fehncke) Lubke. He was baptized on Nov. 6, 1927 at Christ Lutheran Church and confirmed June 14, 1953 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Foster. He attended rural School District 47 to the eighth grade and one year at Norfolk Junior High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Jan. 24, 1951, serving in the Korean War and was stationed in Germany until his discharge on Dec. 26, 1951.
He married LaVonne Weber on April 26, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview. LaVonne and Phillip lived and farmed near Foster for 33 years. Phillip worked at Hoffman Construction for 13 years as a heavy equipment operator and drove truck for Pierce Co-op and various other fertilizer companies. He sold Capper’s Weekly. LaVonne and Phillip moved to Hadar in 1986 and to The Homestead in Norfolk in 2016. Phillip was the oldest member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Foster. He enjoyed playing cards, listening to polka music and playing bingo. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Foster, where he served on various church boards, Farm Bureau and the American Legion Pierce.
    Survivors include a son, William (Brenda) Lubke of Greensville, Texas; a daughter, Janet Koehler of Norfolk; a son, Roger (Millie) Lubke of Norfolk; a son, David (Jean) Lubke of Foster; a daughter, Pam (Randy) Miller of Norfolk; a daughter, Lisa (Mike) Kilcoin of Hadar; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Henery and Arthur; two sisters. Elsie Ackerman and Edna Bygland; and his spouse, LaVonne.
    Pallbearers will be Brandon Lubke, Joshua Lubke, Darin Lubke, Chad Miller, Jeremiah Lubke, Frank Bygland and Rylee Tatum.
