Dendinger, Kramper set school marks at Sevigne Invite
Wayne State College senior thrower Michaela Dendinger set a new school record in the women’s shot put and junior Clay Kramper set a new school standard in the 200-meter dash Saturday at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invite in Lincoln.
Dendinger recorded a new school record mark of 54 feet, 10 1/4 inches to break the previous school mark of 54-2 3/4 set by Sara Wells in 2015 at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Dendinger placed third in the event with the throw and now has the top throw in the nation. he also finished fourth in the weight throw amongst a stellar Division I field with a heave of 63-0.
The top finisher for Wayne at the Fred Beile Classic in Crete was Tia Jones taking fourth in the shot put (45-4 1/4). Allysa Kimpson was sixth in the 60-meter dash finals (8.13) and seventh in the 200-meter dash (27.15) while senior Mary Alderson was eighth in the 200-meter dash (27.38) and eighth in the 600-meter run (1:44.22). Kim Lowman finished 10th in the mile in 5:33.74.
Kramper finished eighth in the men’s 200-meter dash with a time of 22.07, breaking the old record of 22.10 set by Tim Pilakowski in 2007.
Wayne State recorded numerous top 10 finishes at the Fred Beile Classic in Crete Saturday.
Brady Metz had a third-place finish in the triple jump (47-2 1/4) while freshman Brock Hegarty notched a third-place finish in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:41.46. Habib Jallow collected a fourth in the 60-meter hurdles finals at 8.42 seconds.
Three Wildcat distance runners posted a pair of top 10 placings as Isaias Solorio was seventh in the mile run (4:45.82) and ninth in the 3,000-meter run (9:52.93), sophomore Jack Doughty came in fifth in the 3,000-meter run (9:20.55) and eighth in the mile run (4:47.76) while freshman Bailey Peckham was 10th in both events with times of 4:53.56 in the mile run and 9:53.52 in the 3,000-meter run.
In the field events, Dylan Kaup finished fifth in the weight throw (56-3 1/4) and Jayle Hinkle was 10th in the shot put at 45-11 1/4.
Wayne State will compete at the South Dakota State Classic in Brookings, S.D., on Friday and Saturday.
