Susie Sherry, 80, of Wayne, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 at her home in Wayne.
Services will be held Friday, Jan. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wayne. Fr. Jeff Mollner, Fr. Mark Beran, Fr. Don Cleary, Fr. James F. McCluskey, Deacon Gary French and Deacon Pat Gross will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 18 from 5 - 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne with a vigil service at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to the Sherry family for later designation.

Alice Sue “Susie” Sherry was born March 8, 1937, in Goshen County, Wyo. to Francis E. and Ina M. (Roberts) Lee. She lived with her family in Wyoming, Brownlee, Neb. and then Stanton, Neb.. She attended rural school in Cherry County, before graduating from Stanton High School. She attended Norfolk Junior College and later Wayne State College before teaching in Stanton County rural school districts #2 and #5. She met Robert D. Sherry at Wayne State College and two years later they were married on June 25, 1956 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Stanton. The couple lived in California for 14 months while Bob served in the United States Marine Corps then in 1957 returned to Nebraska. Susie became a stay-at-home wife and mother and later helped Bob in his jobs. They lived in Concord, Neb., Elkhorn, Iowa, Carroll, Neb., and then moved to Wayne. Susie helped with C.C.D. programs at St. Anne’s in Dixon, St’s Peter and Paul in Atlantic, Iowa, and St. Mary’s in Wayne. While at St. Anne’s in Dixon, she directed the children’s choir and was a member of St. Anne’s Altar Society. Later when she was member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne, she was a teacher’s aide at the school and served on the funeral committee. Susie helped Bob with the formation and operation of Sherry Brothers True Value Hardware in Wayne. She loved music, reading, playing cards, traveling, all Husker sports and most of all, spending time with family and friends. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1957 and was proud of the years she managed to live, raise her family, and help her husband in any job he chose.
Survivors include her husband, Bob; their children, David and (Lynn) Sherry of Jackson, Robinette M. Conner of Wayne, Jacquelin S. Walti of San Bernardino, Calif. and Thomas G. (Julie) Sherry of Stanton, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Schiltmeyer of Madison; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Nicolas Lee in 1963; and daughter-in-law, Denise in 1993.
Pallbearers will be Jake Pomeroy, Austin Walti, Steve Bohlken, Sam Berona, John Schiltmeyer and Tony Dahl.
