Gayle R. Mc Quistan
Gayle R. McQuistan, 82, of Wayne, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at Careage Campus of Care in Wayne.
Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Wayne. The Rev. Kyle Nelson will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Wayne. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to the McQuistan family for later designation.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Gayle Robert Mc Quistan was born June 1, 1935 in Wayne to John Comfort and Mae Lillian (Gilster) Mc Quistan. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Pender. He graduated from Pender High School in 1953 and attended Wayne State College. Gayle married Sharon Van Buren March 15, 1991 at the First United Methodist Church in Wayne. The couple has lived in Wayne for the last 30 years. Gayle was employed as a manufacturing plant manager for 50 years. His first 30 years were at Automatic Manufacturing and later National C Manufacturing for 20 years, both located in Pender. Gayle was also on the Pender School Board for 13 years. He enjoyed building, designing, wood working, marching bands, league bowling, and all sports; especially Nebraska football.
Survivors include his, wife, Sharon; children, Christina Hendrix of Wayne, Teresa (Jessy) Mick of Wayne, Sheryl (Alex Garcia) Salmons of Oakley, Kan., John Mc Quistan of Wayne, Janelle Mc Quistan of 29 Palms, Calif., Bob (Deb) Mc Quistan of York, Sally (Terry) Bailey of York; a sister, Darlene “Dolly” Robertson of Durham, N.C.; grandchildren, Brett (Shantel) Hendrix, Thomas and Matthew Hendrix, Siera and Cailee Brugger, Alyssa Lowe, Kaylie (Nick) Erwin, Jesse Frick, Shannon Weihe, Alexa, Jon, and Justin Mc Quistan, Sarah and Will Bailey; great-grandchildren, Jack Lowe and Benjamin Erwin; mother-in-law, Mildred Van Buren of Wayne; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Frank and Blanche Gilster; father-in-law, Ervin Van Buren; and brother-in-law, Gerald Robertson.
Pallbearers will be Merle Roeber, Brett Hendrix, Tom Hendrix, Matt Hendrix, Gage Main-Jenkins and Mitch DeBoer.
