Wrestlers take fourth at West Point-Beemer Duals

The Wayne High wrestlers went 2-3 on the day and finished fourth in the West Point-Beemer Duals at West Point-Beemer High School.

Wayne opened with a 32-28 win over Fort Calhoun, lost to Westwood 48-23 and beat Randolph 48-12 to start the tournament. They finished with a pair of tough losses to district opponents, losing 43-26 to Elkhorn Mount Michael and 48-33 to West Point-Beemer.

Cameron Muhs (126), Juan Vergara (132), Berto Vergara (160) and Mike Leatherdale (220) all were 5-0 in individual matches during the round-robin team duals. Reeca Jaqua (120) and Daniel Maxson (195) both finished 3-2, Victor Kniesche was 2-3 at 138 and 1-4 records were sported by Isaac Cliff (145), Reid Korth (170) and Garret Schafer (182).

Wayne will host Creighton in a dual Thursday at Wayne High School.
