Harris named to D2CCA All-Super Region 4 team
Glenn Harris of Wayne State was named to the CCA All-Super Region 4 Football Team by the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association, earning second-team honors on defense.
Harris, a 6-1, 180 pound senior defensive back from Kansas City, Missouri, was a first-team All-NSIC South Division selection this season after leading Wayne State and the NSIC with eight interceptions, which was tied for second in all of NCAA Div. II. His eight interceptions tied a single-season school record shared by Steve Besch (1984) and Charlie Wendt (1970). Harris also tied for third in the NSIC this season with 12 passes defended in helping the Wildcats to a 6-5 record, the team’s first winning season since 2012.
Harris made interceptions in six games this season that included a season-best three interceptions at Augustana Sept. 30 that tied a single-game school record held by four other players. He also recorded interceptions vs. Mary, Minnesota Duluth, at Winona State, Concordia-St. Paul and Upper Iowa.
Harris had 34 tackles, including 27 solo stops this season, to go with 2.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and four breakups. He recorded a season best six tackles, all solo, at top-ranked Minnesota State Nov. 4.
The D2CCA All-Super Region 4 Football Team is voted on by sports information directors from Region 4. It is the second straight season a Wildcat defensive back collected All-Region honors after Cam Montgomery was second-team All-Region last season.
