Paul Zach, 63, of Wayne, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center of complications following a long, courageous, and successful battle with Myelofibrosis.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, Nov. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierce. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pierce. Visitation with the family will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with a prayer service to follow at 7 p.m. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post #72, and United States Navy Honors Guard.
Memorials may be directed to the Zach family for later designation.

Paul Henry Zach was born Aug. 11, 1954 in Norfolk, the first child of Raymond and Hildegarde (Krienert) Zach. He grew up in Pierce, graduating from Pierce High School in 1972 and then immediately beginning his 18 year Naval career. On May 18, 1984 Paul married Silvia Cianci of Naples, Italy. Together they made several places across the United States their home. After being honorably discharged, Paul worked many years for Michael Foods.
Survivors include his wife, Silvia: daughter Sabrina Zach of Omaha; son, Giacomo Zach and girlfriend, Janet Garcia of Virginia Beach, Va., and daughter Erica Zach of Virginia Beach, Va.; his mother, Hilde Zach, of Pierce; sisters and brothers, Kathy (Kirk) Luebe of Pierce, Greg (Kellie) Zach of Virginia Beach, Va., Gina (Mark) Cook of Ponca, Julie (Kevin) Siedschlag of Pierce and Ray (Shalonn) Zach, of Woodbine, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Zach, and grandparents.
Pallbearers will be Robert Hoffmann, Charles Hoffmann, Zachary Cook, Jacob Siedschlag, Eric Newman and Brandon Miller.
