Kathy Fink

       Kathy Fink, 68, of  Omaha, formerly of Wayne, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha.
    Services will be held Friday, Sept.  8 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.  The Rev. Jeanne Madsen and Chaplain Deb Hammer will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne with family present.
    Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
    Memorials may be directed to the Fink family for later designation.
    Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
    Kathleen Kay Fink was born March 29, 1949 in Bloomfield to Elmer and Evelyn “Mike” (Lovejoy) Klein. She was raised on a thriving northeast Nebraska farm where she contributed to the daily responsibilities of life on the farm. She attended nearby Crofton High School where she was crowned Crofton’s Jubilee Queen. After graduating high school in 1967, she attended Wayne State College to pursue a degree in education. During her time at WSC, she was involved in numerous campus activities and was even crowned Queen of the Green and Homecoming Queen during her time there. While at Wayne State, she met her future husband Ron Fink of Schiller Park, Ill. Kathy graduated college in 1971 and started her teaching career at Wayne Community Schools. Ron and Kathy were married in 1972 and planted their own family roots in Wayne where they raised two children, Jason and Carrie. Kathy taught typing, Home Economics, Family & Consumer Science for 33 years, impacting the countless lives of her students and colleagues. After retiring from Wayne Public Schools in 2006, Kathy worked for Haven House in Wayne supporting women in need and also did a short interim at WSC teaching Family & Personal Relationships before moving to their cabin on beautiful Lewis & Clark Lake. Kathy enjoyed hosting her family and friends for long summer weekends and holidays at the cabin. In 2014, after the passing of her beloved husband Ron, Kathy moved to Omaha, where she spent much of her time reconnecting with friends, attending her grandchildren’s activities, and sewing. In the last few years, she acquired a passion for yoga, which she did nearly every morning. She also shared a dear relationship with her special friend, Jim Fletcher, who was a dedicated companion in her final years.
    Survivors include her three sisters: Judy (Carl) Mumm of LaVista, Barb (Bruce) Debban of Richland, Wash. and Pat (Greg) Hotovy of Lincoln; a brother, Jerry (Lisa) Klein of Venice, Fla.; children: Jason (Annie) Fink of Omaha and Carrie (Brady) Borner of Omaha; grandchildren: Mckoy, Ayden, Josey, Drew and Anna; sister-in-law, Suzanne Andres of Jamestown, R.I;. nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ron on June 10, 2014; brothers-in-law, Carl Mumm and Paul Andrews; and parents-in-law, Frank and Olga (Seplak) Fink.
    Pallbearers will be Gene Casey, Randy Pedersen, Don Larsen, Mike Vovos, John Murtaugh, Rick Barner, Dan Rose and Roger Lentz.
