Michael John Marr died Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Careage Campus of Care in Wayne, from heart and liver complications.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10 the United Methodist Church in Wayne.
Michael John Marr was born April 5, 1952 in Concordia, Kan. He graduated from Wayne High School. He attended Wayne State College and then the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1975. Mike worked with the Army Audit Agency from 1975-1982 in St. Louis, Mo., San Antonio, Texas and at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He then transitioned to US Customs, Regulatory Audit unit in Miami, Fla. where he worked until 2004. He lived in Lincoln until 2008 when he moved to Overland Park, Kan. On Feb. 21, 2017 he entered hospice at Careage Campus of Care in Wayne.
Mike’s passion was his family — as a son, brother, and uncle. Mike was a guy who would give you the shirt off his back as long as you didn’t tell anyone to damage his gruff demeanor. As an unintentional entertainer, “Uncle Mike” stories will be told for years by his nieces, nephews, and immediate family.
Survivors include his parents, Arnold and Joan Marr of Wayne; brothers, Rocci (Chris) Marr of Lincoln, Dan Marr of Wayne, Bill (Elizabeth) Marr of Panama City Beach, Fla. and Doug (Megan) Marr of Overland Park, Kan.; 11 nieces and nephews, and seven great-nephews and nieces.
