Merlin Sievers, 82, of Wayne, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Hartington.
Services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne with family present.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to Sievers family for later designation.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne.
Merlin Adolph Sievers was born Jan. 3, 1934 at Wayne to John and Elizabeth (Korn) Sievers. He was baptized at Salem Lutheran Church of rural Wayne. Merlin graduated from Wayne High School. He grew up in the Wayne area, moved to Wausa for a brief time, and spent the rest of his life in and around Wayne. Merlin married Kathryn Johnson on July 31, 1955 at Marcus, Iowa. Merlin was employed at Wayne State College as a carpenter and locksmith from 1968 until 2000. He was a past member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and present member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.
Survivors include his children, Marilyn Ryan of Norfolk, Jerry (Karen) Sievers of Norfolk, Ginny Hansen of Las Vegas, Nev.,and Jeremy Sievers of Curtis; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Eugene Wischhof of Wausa; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathy; in 2010; brothers, Paul (Barbara) Sievers, Leroy (Loraine) Sievers, sister, Dorothy Wischhof; and several in-laws.
