Melvin Meyer, 92, of Wayne, died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018 at Careage Campus of Care in Wayne.
Memorial services will be held Monday, Aug. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Wakefield. The Rev. William Bertrand officiated. There is no visitation. Burial will be at a later date in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Meyer family for later designation.

Melvin Edward Meyer was born July 8, 1926 on a farm near Wayne to Edward and Clara (Echtenkamp) Meyer. He attended Immanuel Lutheran Church Country School rural Wakefield and graduated from Wayne High School. He served in the United States Army Infantry from 1945 to 1946, and he was a proud member of the Army Band. Mel married Dorothy Ahlvers on April 14, 1946 in Wayne. The couple farmed north of Wakefield for several years until moving to Colorado Springs, Colo. in 1958. While in Colorado, Mel worked in construction. In 1995 Mel and Dorothy moved back to the family farm north of Wayne where he continued to live until his death. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Main Street Wayne Committee; an Elderfest volunteer, and delivered Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Fred Fletemeyer of Monument, Colo., Carol and Jerry Doan of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Karen and Bob Eaks of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a son, Fred Meyer of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Lucille Williams of Laurel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Clara (Echtenkamp) Meyer; wife, Dorothy in 2004; one grandson, Nicholas Meyer; and a sister, Elna (Harvey) Splittgerber.
