Marilyn Gehner, 70, of Wayne, died Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne.
Services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne. The Rev. Jeanne Madsen and Chaplain Deb Hammer will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from noon until service time.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Marilyn’s family for later designation.
Marilyn Marcine Gehner was born Oct. 28, 1946, in Norfolk to Charles and Stella (Siemsen) Schultz. She graduated from Wayne High School and attended Wayne State College. Marilyn married Gerald Gehner on Jan. 28, 1965 at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne and later divorced. Throughout her life, Marilyn worked at various businesses including, the Wayne Herald, Thies-Brudigan International Implement in Wayne and Meier’s Auto Salvage in Sioux City, Iowa.
Survivors include her children, Terri (Lowell) Heggemeyer of Wayne, Todd (Christine) Gehner of Sioux City, Iowa and Kelly (Brian) Mackeprang of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; five grandchildren; a sister, Marcine (Randy) Gorham of Lawson, Mo.; brothers, Warren (Jean) Schultz of Oakland, Mark (Linda Dewey) Schultz of Mountain Home, Ark., Dwight (Trudy) Schultz of Wayne and Everett (Julie Milligan) Schultz of Carroll; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Gerald in 2006; brother, Charles Jr.; and three grandchildren, Tad Gehner, Tyson Gehner, and Jacob Gehner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marilyn’s grandchildren, Benjamin Dalgliesh, McKenna Gehner, Kelsey Heggemeyer, Candace Heggemeyer and Cooper Dalgliesh.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Schultz, Warren Schultz, Everett Schultz, Dwight Schultz, Randy Gorham and Steve Keck.
