Malvin George Bruns was born June 23, 1919 on the home farm southwest of Wayne to George and Matilda (Von Seggern) Bruns. Malvin married Ruth Wert on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 1940, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church Parsonage in Wayne. They farmed near Altona, Pender, and then the home place for many years before moving into Wayne. He began farming with horse teams and graduated to tractors. He loved growing crops, animals and his family. Malvin loved life, always enjoying a good story or visit with family, friends, and even strangers. He was so proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, being entertained by their antics. His constant companion and true love was his wife, Ruth until her death in 2011. In their later years, Malvin and Ruth enjoyed touring the countryside, photographing windmills and watching countless parades. Malvin went home from each parade with fresh candy to satisfy his sweet tooth. He was a past member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and present member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.
Survivors include his children, Art (Diana) Bruns of Wayne and Jayne (Edgar) Clemens of Oshkosh; daughter-in-law, Dyleen Bruns of Norfolk; sister-in-law, Betty Bruns of South Dakota; and a wonderful array of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth on March 22, 2011; son, Joseph, on May 19, 2017; siblings, Fritz (Alice) Bruns, Ella (Don) Lutt and Wilbur Bruns.
