Laveta D. Isom, 77, of Apache, Okla., died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in Lawton, Okla.
Services will be held Friday, July 22 at 2 p.m. in the Crews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bud Jones officiating. Laveta will be inurned at Fairview Cemetery at a later date. Services are under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.
Laveta D. Isom was born April 14, 1939 on the family farm east of Apache to Charlie H. and Ludie M. (Austin) Smallwood. She graduated from Apache High School. She married Boyd Isom on May 4, 1957 in Lawton, Okla. They lived in Allen, Neb. before coming back to Oklahoma. Together, they ran several cafes, including Ralph’s Resort, Fletcher Cafe and Ozark Trail. They operated the Farmer’s Roost and Village Inn in Apache before she retired. Laveta loved to cook. She also enjoyed playing dominoes and would play, along with her family for hours. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy.
Survivors include her husband, Boyd, of the home; two sons, Bill and Rita Isom of Apache, Okla. and Alan and Robin Isom of Elgin, Okla.; one daughter, Janet Lea Henderson of Apache, Okla; 12 grandchildren, Josh and Diana Isom; Kandice and Lance Williams; Toby and Haley Isom; Crystal and Eric Edwards; Charity and Justin Helms; Josephine and Jeremy Burgess; Sharon Isom, Anna and Kyle Douthit; Obie and Michelle Clements; Dusty and Melissa Clements; Shane Henderson and Nicole Henderson; 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Charles and Teresa Smallwood of Concord, Calif.; a sister, Grace and Charles Myers of Medicine Park, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Clyde Smallwood, Floyd Smallwood and Willis Smallwood.
