Karen Kay Marshall was born Jan. 16, 1947 to Charles and Evelyn (Viergutz) Marshall at Norfolk. She lived with her parents near Coleridge and later moved to Norfolk. She lived with her brother, Merton, and his family for a while and thereafter in a group home with Northstar in Wayne until moving to Park View Haven in Coleridge. She was loved by all those that came in contact with her. Her brothers held a special place in her heart. She especially loved all her friends at Northstar and considered them family as well. Karen loved spending time with family and friends and celebrating birthdays and holidays. Some of the things she enjoyed most were listening to old records, baking, stuffed animals, flowers, playing cards, coloring, and most of all she loved looking pretty with her nails painted and her jewelry and beads.
Survivors include her brother, Merton “Mert” (Alice) Marshall of Coleridge; nephew, Russell (Deanette) Marshall of Allen; nieces, Rosella (Frankie) Gonzalez of Springfield, S.D., Loretta (Tim) Heaton of Jefferson, S.D., Estelle (Jim) Bierbower of Wakefield, Priscilla (Dwaine) Junck of Carroll and Rebekah (Jason) Flowers of Mayfield, Ky.; many great nieces and nephews; and special friend, Rodney Bauermeister.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dennis Marshall; and niece Louise Calhoon.
