Jonna R. Rebensdorf

Jonna R. Rebensdorf, 26, of Omaha, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk with Rev. Terry Buol officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday at the  Stanton City Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
The family asks that memorials be made to the family for a future scholarship in Jonna’s name through the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

Jonna Ruth Rebensdorf was born to John Rebensdorf and Mary Hupp (Kilchenmann) at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Norfolk on July 30, 1990. She was baptized Aug. 5, 1990 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stanton. She was confirmed at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Omaha on May 22, 2005 and remained a member. Jonna attended preschool in 1994 and 1995 in Norfolk at the YMCA and St. Paul’s Lutheran School. In 1996 she began school at Montessori Victory School in Norfolk and was a student there from K-third grade. In 2000 her family moved to Omaha. She then attended Millard Montessori from 2000-2003, Kiewit Junior High 2004-2005 and graduated from eighth grade on May 2, 2005 as an Honor student both years. Also in junior high she started her music career by playing the trombone in the junior high band.
In 2009, she graduated from Millard North High School in Omaha with a 3.5 Honor cord. She received the Presidents Education Award and Regents Academic Award to University of Nebraska at Omaha. She was involved in the following activities: cross country, track, Nebraska All-State orchestra, 1st chair orchestra-viola, Honor Chamber orchestra, lettered in orchestral music, lettered in school theatre and was a member of the Millard North Forensics competition team receiving many awards too numerous to list.
Following graduation in June 2009, she was recognized by Governor Heineman as a Nebraska-Ambassador of Music  and toured Europe visiting seven countries playing her Viola. In December 2012, Jonna graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelor of Art Cum Laude in Sociology. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society and held numerous board positions. Jonna also participated in the UNO Forensics competition team and went to Nationals for Dramatic Duo in 2009. From 2013 to present she was enrolled at University of Nebraska-Omaha working on her Masters in Sociology.
Survivors include Jonna’s mother Mary and husband Corey Hupp of Rancho Mirage, Calif., father John and wife Kathy Rebensdorf of Pierce; sister, Briana Rebensdorf of Fremont, brother Brock Rebensdorf of Sioux City, Iowa, step-sister Cassandra and husband Jordan Widner of Wayne, step-brother Jacob Woslager of Pierce; grandparents John and Delores Rebensdorf of Wayne, grandmother Joan Henn of Norfolk, and grandmother Sue Hupp of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents LeRoy and Lois Kilchenmann, grandfathers Nicholas Hupp and Roger Henn.
