Jim Hansen, 82, died March 29, 2016 at the Sweet Life Guest Home in Harbor City, Calif.
His body was cremated and no services are planned at this time.
Jim Wesley Hansen was born on Jan. 18,1934 at Wayne to Willie and Mabel Louise (Heithold) Hansen. Jim was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Wayne. He attended District #48 and graduated from Wayne High School in 1951. Jim served in the US Army. He married Karen Voss on June 19, 1960 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Emerson. To this union three children were born. The couple later divorced. He spent most of his life in the Los Angeles area. He worked many years for the Mattel toy company and then later purchased a health food store. In 1992 he sold his store and continued to do odd jobs to keep busy and he began to come to Nebraska every spring and fall to spend time with his brother, Cyril, and family. He drove many trips to Nebraska in his 1966 Plymouth. Family members enjoyed reconnecting with him.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Rick) Smoot of Moreno Valley, Calif., and sons David (Julie) Hansen of Placentia, Calif., and Mark (Gloria) Hansen of San Pedro, Calif.; grandsons Kenneth and Jordan Smoot, Jeremy Hansen and Jack Hansen; a sister-in-law, Beverly Hansen of Wayne and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lee Ann (Hansen) Romines, and a brother, Cyril Hansen, of Wayne.
