Janelle Bahr, 60, of Norfolk, died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
A Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Visitation with family will be one hour prior to service at the church. The memorial service is under direction of Home for Funerals.
Janelle E. Bahr was born in Norfolk to Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Trautwein of Winside on March 29, 1957. After Elwin Trautwein's passing, her mother, Shirley, remarried, making Kenneth Fleer Janelle's stepfather. Janelle was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winside and graduated from Winside High School in 1975. On July 29, 1978 Janelle married the love of her life, Richard N. Bahr of Norfolk. They raised two children together in Norfolk; Jessica Muhs of Marquette and Adam Bahr of Omaha. In addition to raising their two children, she also thoroughly enjoyed gardening. When her hands weren't in the soil, she was often photographing the beautiful results of her hours in the flower gardens. On warm summer evenings, you would likely hear her laughter coming from the deck as she visited with family and friends. Janelle was a kind and loyal friend, and a patient and protective mother and grandmother. You could always count on her for insightful advice.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Bahr; daughter Jessica and Joshua Muhs, son Adam and his longtime girlfriend Amber Raes, and daughter and son-in-law Crystal and Scott Lukas of Beaverton, Ore.; three grandsons; a brother Lee Trautwein of Winfield, Kan., a sister and brother-in-law Dorinda and Randy Janke of Norfolk, and countless other relatives and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father; her in-laws, Lloyd and Angela Bahr; and three sisters-in-law, Sharlene Trautwein, Beth Bahr, and Jeannie Maas.
