Floyd Henry Glassmeyer was born May 8, 1923, on a farm southwest of Wayne to Edward and Minnie (Wittler) Glassmeyer. He was baptized and confirmed at the Theophilus Church near Winside. Floyd attended rural school through the eighth grade and welding and machinist school. He served in the United States Marine Corps from June 18, 1945 until July 29, 1946. Floyd married Pearl Thompson on Nov. 24, 1944 at the Theophilus Church. After 1946, the couple farmed all of their married life south of Wayne. Floyd was a member of the Wayne American Legion and active in the farming community through the CO-OPs and the National Farmers Organization. He loved traveling, family gatherings and having his family near him. Most of all, he enjoyed fishing on the pontoon boat with as many grandchildren as they could carry. Grilling on the boat was a big treat for all.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Pearl in 2001; and brothers, Donald, Lowell (Pat), and Merle (Clara).
Pallbearers will be Chace Bowers, Jesse Osborn, Mary Simmons, Katherine Simmons, Chris Glassmeyer and Brad Poppe.
