Donna F. Mittelstaedt

    Donna F. Mittelstaedt, 87, of Norfolk  died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018 at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek.
    Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 10 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk with Rev. Terry Buol officiating. Burial will be a private family service at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 -7 p.m., Sunday, also at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk.

    Donna F. Mittelstaedt was born Oct. 24, 1930 in Wakefield, the daughter of August and Evelyn (Jarvis) Slahn. She graduated from Wakefield High School in 1947. She married Merle Schluns on May 31, 1947 in Wakefield, and later married Robert Mittelstaedt on Aug. 28, 1987, in O’Neill. Donna worked in the Holt County Treasurer’s Office in O’Neill for 13 years. She then went to work for S&S Store office for four years before working for Dale Electronics for 11 years in Norfolk. They lived in Wakefield, Pierce, O’Neill, Golden, Colo., Henderson, Nev., and Norfolk. Donna’s favorite pastimes included reading, dancing, playing cards and bowling. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk and a charter member of the Eagles Auxiliary.
    Survivors include her spouse, Robert Mittelstaedt of Norfolk; her children, Randall Schluns of Norfolk, Rick (Cathy) Schluns of O’Neill, Scott (Lynn) Schluns of Frisco, Texas, Darcy Mittelstaedt of New Braunfels, Texas, Dena (Justin) Snorton of Norfolk, Dodie (Chad) Finkhaus of Norfolk and Tony (Lynn) Mittelstaedt of Wimauma, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Krista Schluns of Pierce; her grandchildren, Amy, Jamie, DeAnna, Tami, Darick, Lance, Brandi, Abbie, Kailen, Nick, Jake, Ethan, Reagan, Harper, Aryel, Anistyn and Bristol; 15 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charlie (Karolyn) Slahn of Norfolk and family.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Evelyn Slahn; her spouse, Merle Schluns; a son, Steve Schluns; a grandchild, Kevin Schluns; and a great-grandchild, Ayvah Flynn.
