Donna Blaser, 87, of Norfolk died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk. Pastor Lee Weander will officiate, with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home.

Donna Jean Blaser was born in Wayne on April 2, 1930 to Otto and Irene (Beckner) Koch. She was baptized and confirmed at Theophilus Church in Winside, where she often played the organ. Donna attended Winside Public School and graduated in 1948. After graduation, Donna taught country school in the Winside area. While teaching, she met Paul Blaser and they were married Nov. 25, 1951. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Mitchell, S. D., where Paul managed the lumber yard. In 1956 Donna and Paul moved to Sioux Falls and started a family of three children, Robert, Kelly, and Todd. In 1970, they moved to Norfolk, where Donna was a reading teacher at Westside Elementary School until she retired. Donna was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, singing in the choir and volunteering her time. She loved doing crossword puzzles and playing the piano. Donna was also an avid gardener and loved taking care of her lawn.
Survivor include her sons, Robert Blaser and his girlfriend Vivian Fox of Norfolk and Todd Blaser and his wife Rhonda of Alexandria, Minn.; brother, Noel and Phyllis Koch and his wife Phyllis of Milford; granddaughters, Michelle (Blaser) Lawrence and her husband Jeff, Sara (Blaser) Yelkin and her husband Joe, Alex (Blaser) VanVoorhis and her husband Matt, and Ki Blaser; and one great-grandson, Colton Weir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; and her daughter, Kelly.
