Donald Dean Wittig
Donald Dean Wittig, 88,of Broken Bow, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2018 at the Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services were held Aug. 23 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Broken Bow with burial on Friday, Aug. 24 the Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, at 1 p.m.
Memorials have been established to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Prairie Pioneer Center.
Donald Dean Wittig was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Ruskin, Neb. to Otto and Florence (Pritz) Wittig. Don was baptized on Dec. 16, 1929 at Saint Mark Lutheran Church in Ruskin and confirmed on April 18, 1943. Don served our country in the Armed Forces. The U.S. Army deployed him to the war zone during the Korean Conflict. After his service in the Army, Don returned home and would marry his fiancee, Norma Busse on Oct. 25, 1953. He was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Broken Bow.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Hahn of Ferndale, Wash.; a son, Kevin (Janine) Wittig of Eden Prairie, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and brothers, Al Wittig of Wayne, and Ray Wittig of Corona, Calif.
