Dona Denesia, 80, formerly of Wayne and Concord area, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at her home in Harbor City, Calif.
A Remembrance Service was held Tuesday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne. The Rev. William Bertrand officiated. Burial was in the Concord Cemetery in Concord.
Memorials may be directed to the Denesia family for later designation.
Dona Rae Denesia was born Sept. 3, 1935 in Allen to Edward and Ina (Karnes) Fletcher. She graduated from Concord High School. Dona met her husband, Robert Denesia, at Concord in 1952, where he worked at Sherry Brothers Company. They were married in December of 1953 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Laurel. Together they lived in Wayne for a short period of time before moving to Hawthone, Calif. in 1960, Westminster in 1962, and eventually Harbor City, Calif. in 1965, where she stayed the last 50 years of her life. They divorced in September of 1972. Dona had two children, Gregory Denesia, his children, Erik, Marie, and Andrew Denesia and Brenda (Denesia) Wirth, her children Richard, Jerry (JD) and Timothy Werth.
She started her career working at the Sears in Torrence, alongside her husband, Robert, in the Credit Department, and eventually became Executive Secretary for TRW Inc. and Northrop Grumman, until her retirement in January of 2006. She remained active in the TRW Retirement Club. Her most important role was raising the three local grandsons upon the death of her daughter, Brenda Werth, in 2008. She spent the last years surrounded by the love of her family.
Survivors include her son, Gregory of Layton, Utah; grandchildren, Richard, J.D., Erik, Marie, Timothy, and Andrew; sister, Julie (Vaughn) Benson of Winnebago; ex-husband, Robert Denesia of Gardena, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Shirley Fletcher of Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Brenda; and brother, Gene Fletcher.
