Collin Jeffries, 24, of Federal Heights, Colo., formerly of Wayne, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016 in Colorado.
Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Wayne. The
Rev. Kyle Nelson will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Wayne with family present.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.
Memorials may be directed to the Jeffries family for later designation.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Collin Curtis Jeffries was born March 5, 1992 in Wayne to Curtis and Coleen (Papenhausen) Jeffries. He attended Wayne Community Schools until graduating in 2010. Collin was involved in and enjoyed many activities. He was introduced to the game of golf in the summer rec golf program in fourth grade. He was most passionate about the game of golf and spent countless hours at the Wayne County Club enjoying the game with his friends of all ages. He was successful in high school golf competitions and qualified for the high school state golf tournament all four years of high school. Collin enjoyed listening to all genres of music. He was a percussionist for the band and attended Masonic Band Camp two years. He was also in Choir, Swing Choir and Musicals. Collin was active in Boy Scouts where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2009, and participated in several high adventure trips with the scouts. After finishing high school, Collin attended one year of college at the University of Nebraska, Kearney. He then enrolled in an apprentice program with Colorado Sound in Denver, Colo., learning the sound recording industry. He earned a certificate of completion in the program in 2012. Collin was presently working at TCLabs in Denver, Colo. as a lab technician.
Survivors include his parents, Curtis and Coleen Jeffries of Wayne; girlfriend, Megan Smith and her daughter, Cora Smith of Federal Heights, Colo.; grandmother, Vivian Papenhausen of Coleridge; aunts and uncles, Marlin and Lynn Papenhausen, Don and Phyllis (Jeffries) Wood, cousins, Andrew and Jeana Wood, Darrell and Amanda (Wood) Fieldgrove, Kelsey Papenhausen and Brady Papenhausen; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Christa; maternal grandfather, Curtis Papenhausen; paternal grandparents, Curtis and Mona Jeffries and great-grandparents.
