Claribel Ann (Crain) Anderson died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Careage Campus of Care in Wayne.
Private family services will be held. There is no visitation.
Claribel Ann (Crain) Anderson, the daughter of David and Evelyn (Halladay) Crain, was born June 9, 1932 at Laurel. She grew up in the Newcastle, Laurel and Dixon area where she attended school. She graduated from Dixon Public School, the smallest class of three students. On Sept. 15, 1950 she married Art Anderson. "Clar" as she preferred to go by, lived in Laurel nearly 30 years (where she raised her family) and South Sioux City nearly 20 years (where she worked) until poor health causing her to retire to Wayne in 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Steven (Elizabeth) of Algona, Iowa and Jeffrey (Dianne) of Nixa, Mo.; one daughter, Sheryl of Lisbon, Iowa; five grandsons, Jason (Lindsay) Anderson, Mark (Nicole) Anderson, Joel (Heather) Polhamus, Justin Polhamus, Josh Kirby (Victoria); granddaughter, Sarah Sen (Arijit); six great granddaughters and four great grandsons; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, John Gradwohl of Kansas City and a sister-in-law, Delores Blomberg of Minneapolis, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Turena (Smith) Gradwohl, one brother, Doug and one granddaughter, Marrissa Anne-Marie Polhamus; brothers-in-law, Clark Smith Jr., Lawrence Anderson, Ole Anderson, George “Pooley” Blomberg and Ruben Burow; sisters-in-law, Ila Anderson, Idris Burow and Diane Anderson; niece, Janice and nephews, Greg Blomberg and Troy Anderson.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne.
