Charlotte Vaught, 98, of Wayne, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017 at Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. at Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne. The Rev. Dave York will officiate. Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time at Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery.
Memorials maybe directed to the Wayne Food Pantry in Wayne.

Charlotte Virginia (Hamilton) Vaught was born July 10, 1919, in Hobert, Oklahoma to T.C. and Artha Belle (Fraley) Hamilton. She graduated from Anadarko High School in Oklahoma in 1936 and business college in 1938. Charlotte married Troy C. Vaught on Aug. 17, 1940 at the Methodist parsonage in Dodge City, Kan. Following World War II, Troy’s jobs transferred them to numerous locations in Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado. In 1962 they bought the Swans Ladies Store in Wayne and co-owned and managed the store until shortly before Troy’s death in 1983. In 2016 Charlotte moved to Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel. Charlotte was a gifted seamstress, an astute business person and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Most of all she loved the Lord and was content in the knowledge she would someday join him.
Survivors include her daughter, Candace ZumBrunnen of Kearney; grandchildren, Michalle Shoemaker, Troy (Gwen) ZumBrunnen, Tyler (Brandee) ZumBrunnen, and Anne ZumBrunnen; great-grandchildren, Jordan Fischer, Sarah Sohrweid, Adam Millsap, Kealy ZumBrunnen, Breck ZumBrunnen, and Bryson ZumBrunnen; great-great-grandchildren, Brogan Lenstrom, Charlotte Baker, Haydn Frink, and Parker Fischer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Troy in 1983; daughter, Rebecca J. Sohrweid in 2008, grandson, Michael Sohrweid; two brothers, and three sisters.
