Billy “Bill” Chase, 85 of Allen, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017 near Allen.
Services were held Friday, Nov. 17 at the Wakefield Christian Church. Burial was in Springbank Cemetery at Allen. United States Army provided military honors.
Arrangements were with Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.
Billy “Bill” Chase was born May 8, 1932 in Allen, the son of Clinton and Anna (Christopherson) Chase. He grew up in Allen, graduating in 1952 from Allen High School. He joined the Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955. Bill married Arlene Backman on Dec. 30, 1952 in Ponca. Together they made their home in Sioux City, Iowa, Jackson, and in 1968, they moved to a farm near Allen. Over the years he worked at Armour Packing and was self employed.
Bill was a member of Wakefield Christian Church. He loved spending time with his wife and family. He also enjoyed being outside working on the farm.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; five sons, Rick Chase and special friend, Ella of Allen, Brad Chase of Laurel, Brent Chase of Gainesville, Fla., Bill Chase of Wakefield and Jeff (Vicky) Chase of Holdrege; one daughter, Lisa (Steve) Gunsolley of Allen; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma Papalia of Rochester, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Arlene; two brothers, Vernon and Ben, and three sisters, Goldie Frank, Veva Lenox and Helen Blake.
