Betty J. Bull
Betty J. Bull, 91, of Pontiac, formerly of Fairbury, died Monday, July 4, 2016 at Pontiac Health Care and Rehab in Pontiac, Ill.
Services will be held Friday, July 8 at 11 a.m. with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac with Pastor Tom Goodell officiating. Burial will be at Southside Cemetery in Pontiac, Ill.
Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac is in charge of arrangements.
Betty J. Bull was born March 15, 1925 in Wayne to Jacob Albert and Velma Adelia (Powers) Milliken. Betty was raised on a family farm near Wayne. She attended Wayne High School and then took correspondence courses at Wayne State Teachers College and taught all the elementary grades in a one-room country school for three years. Then she lived in Sioux City, Iowa where she held several different clerical positions. After Henry was discharged from WWII they married on May 19, 1946 in the Methodist Church at Wayne. Betty held several clerical positions while her husband was in college. It was this additional subsistence that made it possible for Henry to obtain professional degrees in agriculture.
Betty was greatly involved in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts as well as her church. She taught Sunday school classes and was secretary for her Church. Betty assisted in several duties at local grade and high schools while their children were in school. She was active in organizing several bridge groups and tournaments and an active member of the Eastern Star branch of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include her two children; Richard Bull of Vallejo, Calif. and Judy Campbell of Pontiac, Ill.; one grandchild, Jason Campbell; three brothers, Albert Milliken of North Carolina; Robert ( Jerene) Milliken of Glenview, Ill. and Larry (Andrea) Milliken of Mesquite, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Bull; and one sister, Priscilla Chicoine.
