Betty Hank, 81, of Norfolk, formerly of Carroll, died Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Norfolk.
Services will be held Thursday, April 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winside. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Carroll.
Memorials may be directed to the Hank family for later designation.
Betty Jane Hank was born Sept. 25, 1934 at Millboro, S.D. to Loyd and Bertha (Umphrey) Heath. She attended school in South Dakota until moving to Nebraska in 1946. She graduated from Homer High School in 1953. Betty married Robert H. Hank on Aug. 22, 1953. The couple lived in North Carolina one year. They began farming in 1956, then purchased a farm near Carroll and in 1973, moved to an acreage near Carroll. After they divorced in 2009, Betty moved to Norfolk. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Winside where she was Sunday School teacher for seven years. For over 20 years, she bowled on the Go Go Women’s League and was a former member of Happy Worker’s Club. Before her retirement, Betty was employed at the Wayne Care Center from 1991-1996. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bingo, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Robert D. (Deb) Hank of Carroll, Michael (Peggy) Hank of Carroll, Larry (Kris) Hank of Columbus, and Patty (Mark) Claussen of Springfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Norma Anderson of Commerce City, Colo.; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Vera Heath, Edna Rasmussen, and Arlene Gaskin.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
